Speak to our team

Founded in 1939, Citizens Advice now has over 22,000 trained volunteers working out of almost 3,500 community locations. With millions of people turning to CA every year, the organisation is continually challenging itself to innovate, improve and develop. And, at the forefront of all of this is a rather special team of leaders whose ‘commitment to the cause’ is unwavering – even in the toughest of times.

MAKING THE MOST OF MBTI

MEET

Having drawn on MBTI as part of their own top team development programme, one of the Exec members decided it was time to ‘share the magic’ and introduce his Heads of Service to the wonderful world of Myers Briggs. With a growing need to work more collaboratively and a new addition to the line-up, what better way to begin opening up as a team?

CREATE

With standard MBTI fare as the core of the session, we added a few of our own ingredients to give it a real Maier flavour. Our aim was to not only raise levels of self-awareness within the team but also awareness of others’ preferences and the role this might play in the group becoming a high-functioning, high-performing directorate. And all in a few hours – what could be easier?

FACILITATE

Having introduced MBTI to those who were new to the concept, and reminded those who were more familiar of the basics, we quickly progressed to in depth discussions and analysis. How types respond to change and challenge was a great lead into topics such as ‘when we’re at our best’ and ‘what can trigger stress’ – moving from ‘blind spots’ to ‘HOT spots’ – simple!

EVALUATE

Even in a relatively short space of time it was evident the group were already beginning to connect on a different level. There was a new found ‘respect’ and understanding between team members, but also more of an appetite to challenge each other – and this included their Exec Member too who left the session in no doubt as to what his team expected from him going forward. Satisfied customer all round.

“Your facilitation has been extraordinary and I am sure that this will make a major contribution to the development of a better leadership team in Citizens Advice”.

Hybrid is not simply a location shift, it is a mindset shift which requires a different set of leadership skills and capabilities than the ‘old work way’.

Our latest workshop, ‘Understanding Hybrid Working Environments’, provides a timely opportunity to explore both the practicalities and potential pitfalls of hybrid working. A well thought through, evidence based development session bringing groups of managers and leaders together to understand what successful approaches to hybrid working can look like on both a personal and organisational level.
