A series of bespoke leadership skills workshops
Designed to bring together talent from across the business, fostering collaboration and learning key leadership skills for stronger business performance.
Our client
Our leadership workshops were designed for Sinclair International, the world’s leading authority on food-safe fresh produce labels and labelling equipment. Based in the UK and USA but active worldwide, Sinclair can be found in over 45 countries across the globe.
“Sinclair has worked with Maier over a number of years on a variety of leadership, management and organisational programmes and initiatives. Our long-standing partnership means Maier is able to quickly understand the needs of both our people and the business and introduce effective and engaging programmes to develop and nurture our leadership talent. The Engaging Leaders Programme was well received by all participants and we are excited to be delivering it again this year with a new cohort.”
Their challenge
Having been a longstanding partner with Maier, Sinclair has always taken a proactive approach to management and leadership development. By continually nurturing a pipeline of talent, they have ensured long-term success for the organisation, while also providing opportunities for career advancement for employees.
As part of their 2023 strategy, Sinclair were looking for a management programme aimed at employees who were either new to management, about to step into a management position or had leadership experience but would benefit from ‘upskilling’ in certain areas. In summary, the programme needed to:
1
Increase awareness of how we show up in our own style of leadership.
2
Explore natural strengths and overdrive risks and how this impacts on ways of working.
3
Enhance key leadership competencies of active listening, positive inquiry, facilitating conversation and guiding the problem-solving process.
4
Encourage cross-functional togetherness.
5
Join the dots on where strategy leads to results.
6
Align with the Sinclair leadership approach.
Our programme
We created a series of 3 virtual workshops delivered by an experienced Maier facilitator. The learning from these sessions was then further enhanced by structured inter-workshop activities to embed the outcomes from the sessions into the delegates’ day-to-day leadership roles. The overall objectives were developed in conjunction with Sinclair’s Learning and Development Partner.
A follow-up session with Maier after the programme, supported by internally driven team check-ins, was held for both delegates and their Line Managers to ensure the learning and development from the programme continued to be embedded in the day-to-day.
Our impact
All participant feedback indicated that they either agreed or strongly agreed that the programme had achieved its objectives.
100% of delegates agreed that through attending the programme they felt it would add value to their role and ‘help them do a better job’.
As a result of the programme, attendees believed that they acquired new and advanced skills and had better knowledge upon which to base their decisions.
A year on, when asking them what difference the programme has made to their role, participants were able to share key elements they have taken on board and the impact it has made.
Delegates from the 2023 programme have since nominated their own direct reports to complete the 2024 programme. This referral and recommendation is a great indicator of how much they valued the programme and want others to benefit from the experience. It also helps continue to build a common language around leadership, management and collaboration.
