A Maier Milestone – celebrating 20 years of trading

February marks a big occasion for us, our 20-year anniversary. How time flies when you’re having fun working with inspirational leaders! It’s been a brilliantly successful and fulfilling journey for Maier and we’re still enjoying the ride. From the get go we had the ambition, passion, and determination to make a real difference in developing leadership talent and have been lucky enough to have worked with some fantastic clients both in the UK and internationally – and still do.


Lots of businesses have passion of course, but what does it mean for Maier? For us passion is at the core of how we operate and, in many ways, the secret to our success. When Karyn set up the business in 1998, she was passionate about addressing the gap in leadership development. Having been Managing Director for previous organisations she saw first-hand the growing demand for a different approach to individual and team development.

From the beginning, Maier’s aim was to create an entirely different experience to training and development – moving away from off-the-shelf programmes towards bespoke, insightful leadership development that challenged and changed the way organisations improved individual, team, and business performance.

20 years on and the tailored approach is not a new phenomenon and there are many consultancies out there. However, what sets us apart isn’t just what we offer but how we deliver it and that’s where our rather brilliant team of Consultants, Coaches and Client Managers come in. All with an impressive amount of expertise and generosity of spirit (our biggest guiding value that has consistently acted as our touchstone over the years) that our Clients have come to know and love.


Maier wouldn’t be where it is today without our rather wonderful Clients, past and present. It was a hard task but we had a lot of fun selecting just a few of our highlights over the years…

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for today. Everyone has come away very pleased and with a lot of insight into how we can be better leaders and a more effective team. Very very positive – and (as ever) brilliantly choreographed!

We have worked with Maier now for several years and Karyn and her team have been instrumental in helping us to transform the ways in which our management and leadership teams across the college operate, lead and collaborate. It has been a really successful partnership.

Maier have been brilliant at helping us get our Exec team even more aligned in delivering the Asos vision and ambition, company-wide. Through events which cover anything from how to get the most out of our meetings, to how we work together as one strong and dynamic Exec. Challenging, fun, honest – that about sums it up.

Partnering with Maier enabled us to translate what we wanted to achieve in terms of leadership and organisational change into a tangible plan.  The approach is not just  a ‘one size fits all’  management development programme, our relationship allows us to tailor how we work together as we transition through the change process to transform the way our leadership operate, and has been an enjoyable and inspiring journey for individuals and the group as a whole.



Whilst the business continues to go from strength to strength, we never lose sight of where we can offer our expertise and support to the local community. This year marks the first anniversary of a newly formed charity called littlelifts. Over the past twelve months the littlelifts team have worked hard on launching its comfort boxes, containing lovingly prepared and carefully selected items given to women receiving chemotherapy treatment for primary breast cancer – currently focusing on the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital but soon to expand to all of Norfolk and moving into Suffolk.

The Maier team have provided ongoing support and guidance in developing the charity vision, mission and strategy as well working closely with the charity on developing the brand and communications. We’re also involved with a couple of other lovely organisations; Karyn is a Trustee of Norfolk and Norwich Festival – one of the top four arts festivals in the country.

As well as being Chair of Board of Directors for Spindle a young and amazing film production company who are definitely going places.
