Explaining why people say one thing, but do something else

Because our designs are unique to each client we always begin with the end in mind. But in some cases we need to find out where we’re starting as well! Qualitive research and evaluation helps organisations to pick apart complex issues, getting to the root cause of what’s happening. Not always easy reading, more often than not the results encourage companies to open their eyes to new perspectives, giving them new paths to pursue.

Our usual practice is to take a cross-section of people from within the organisation and through a mix of questionnaires and interviews we find out what they think and feel about their working environments. It’s not about statistical analysis, it’s about identifying the real motivations, the whys and what fors. This deeper insight is invaluable to companies because it’s a true and honest reflection of what the people who make up their business are saying. It’s their views in their own words.

A typical methodology would be;

  • Design interviews and or questionnaires
  • Facilitate the process
  • Interpret the results
  • Filter the information down to core issues
  • Present back and utilise the learning
